On Friday, April 10th, students from grades 6 to 9 took part in Fashion Revolution Day, an event aimed at raising awareness about the environmental and social impacts of the textile industry.
The main goal of the day was to highlight the issue of overproduction in fashion and to encourage more responsible clothing choices. Fast fashion has made it easy to buy new clothes cheaply and frequently, but this comes at a significant cost to our planet and to the people who produce these garments.
To support this idea, students were encouraged to wear clothes that had been forgotten at the back of their shelves. By rediscovering and reusing these items, we showed that fashion does not always have to mean buying something new. Even small changes in our habits can make a difference.
Students from the 8th grade also supported the project by creating posters that highlighted the problems of fast fashion and encouraged others to think more sustainably.
Throughout the day, we discussed the importance of sustainability, the lifecycle of clothing, and the impact of our everyday decisions. The event inspired many students to think more carefully about what they wear and how often they buy new clothes.
Fashion Revolution Day reminded us that being stylish and being responsible can go hand in hand.
